Every camping season feels like it flies by — and somehow, October is already here.
That means it’s your last chance at the lake before Austin Lake RV Park & Campground closes for the season on October 31. After that, we’ll settle in for winter and look ahead to reopening on May 1.
If you’ve been thinking about one more weekend getaway, this is it.
There’s Something Special About October Camping
October camping feels different — in the best way.
The air is crisp. Sweatshirts replace swimsuits. Campfires start earlier. The lake reflects deeper sunsets. Families slow down and soak in every moment because they know the season is winding down.
It’s quieter. It’s calmer. It’s memorable.
According to outdoor recreation research from the National Recreation and Park Association, many families find fall camping trips to be more relaxing and less crowded than peak summer weekends — something our guests experience here every October.
One More Weekend of Family Time
At Austin Lake, October weekends are about simple moments:
- Morning coffee by the water
- Fishing off the dock
- Kids riding bikes through the campground
- Campfire dinners and s’mores
- Watching the sunset over the lake
These are the weekends families remember all winter long.
Before school schedules, holiday chaos, and colder weather take over, October offers a final opportunity to unplug and reconnect.
The Season Officially Ends October 31
We close for the season on October 31 and reopen May 1.
That means only a limited number of weekends remain to enjoy the lake, your favorite campsite, and time with friends and family here at the park.
If you’ve been meaning to visit — or squeeze in one more trip — now is the time to make it happen.

End the Season the Right Way
Many of our camping families make it a tradition to book one final October weekend. It’s their way of closing out the season together — one last fire, one last sunset, one last peaceful morning at the lake.
There’s something meaningful about ending the season intentionally.
So grab the hoodies. Bring the marshmallows. Call the family.
Let’s make these final days at Austin Lake count.
We’ll see you before October 31.
