A new year always brings fresh energy.
New goals. New calendars. New plans.
And for many families, it’s also when camping season starts taking shape — long before the weather warms up.
Why January Is the Perfect Time to Plan
When the holidays settle down and routines return, families naturally begin looking ahead. Research from the Outdoor Industry Association shows that more families are prioritizing outdoor experiences as part of their annual plans.
Camping isn’t just a weekend activity — it’s something people intentionally build into their year.
Planning early means:
- Choosing your favorite weekends
- Coordinating schedules with friends or family
- Looking forward to something together
- Starting the countdown to summer
Reopening May 1
Austin Lake RV Park & Campground will reopen on May 1, and while winter still lingers, spring will be here before we know it.
Returning families often know exactly which weekend they want. Some book the same tradition year after year.
If you’re new to Austin Lake, this is the perfect time to explore what we offer and decide how you’d like your 2026 camping season to look.
Start the Conversation at Home
Planning doesn’t have to mean locking in every detail today.
It can start with simple questions:
- Which weekend works best?
- Who should we invite?
- Should we stay longer this year?
- What do we want to make time for?
Sometimes the anticipation is half the fun.
